7 miles, grade 3, with a one hour ascent.
This is a new walk from walks leader Merlyn Mavro and is likely to take us about four hours.
Our walk starts from just
below Pelendri. We descend on a wide forest
track and dry river bed to the Ayias Mamas
road. Crossing the road we stroll up through the village to the church
with seats for lunch stop. After lunch is a steady climb of about a mile
to the ridge above the
Commanderia valley. It's then a gentle descent with
optional stop to check out the renovated church of Ayia Valava as we descend on a concrete road into Lania and drinks at the Platania
taverna.
Bring plenty of water and
your packed lunch.
